Veg Connect • Bagheria

@ Kàlamo Ristorante, Bagheria (PA), Sicily

Who says an event promoting sustainability and plant-based culture cannot take place in an elegant setting, with thoughtful food and a fine dining experience?

On 20 August, Veg Connect officially launched with a sold-out first event: a vegan apericena organised in collaboration with Kàlamo Restaurant in Bagheria, Sicily.

We’re now back in London and catching up with everything we left behind. A little overwhelmed, but in the best possible way,  especially after the incredible response to our first event.

We are truly grateful to everyone who joined us and to all the guests and partners who contributed to making the evening so special:

  • Team Kàlamo
  • Luce Pennisi, founder of Veg Sicilia
  • Giorgia Matesi, LAV Palermo
  • Orto 21 Gram, for providing local vegetables
  • Dr Maria Concetta Lo Coco, psychologist

The purpose of Veg Connect is to create spaces where people can meet, connect, share ideas and enjoy experiences centred around a more sustainable and cruelty-free lifestyle.

We often imagine vegan events as food stalls and bohemian-style festivals. And while there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, we believe the revolution can also take place in more sophisticated spaces. Sustainability belongs everywhere. So does plant-based culture.

Following the fantastic response and sold-out launch, we have decided to make this the beginning of something more regular: a monthly vegan apericena, celebrating sustainable culture, local produce, good food and meaningful connections.
